Where our lot lines come from

Every boundary we draw comes from free public government GIS — no paid data resellers. Quality depends on what your county publishes, so here is exactly what backs each state before you run a lookup.

Statewide parcel service

27 states

An official statewide government service returns surveyed lot geometry directly. Boundaries are drawn from the county tax maps.

Verified county layers

1 states

No statewide service exists, so we query verified county services one by one. Coverage is strong in the listed counties and falls back elsewhere.

Discovered at lookup time

23 states

We search public county GIS catalogs when you run the lookup. Most addresses resolve to real parcel geometry; where none is published, the report is labeled as an approximate boundary.

State by state

General educational reference only. Prescription periods and their exceptions change, and several states set the period by case law rather than by statute. Read the linked official code and consult a licensed attorney in that state before relying on any of it.
